Used to play RTCW on Xbox Live on and off from like 2003 to 2006, watched some WarwitchTV and got the nostalgia going on..

If I want to play some RTCW, and I do mean RTCW not Enemy Territory or any of that non-sense. Can I just get it on and Steam and voila or will I need some add-ons or whatnot? And there people still playing? I remember like a year back I dl'd a copy and all of the servers running were bots..

ECGN still runs a server. It isn't as populated as it used to be, but has it's busier times. Their forums might have info on how to get the game to work properly via steam. Hell it might work just fine, I don't know. the server ip is 64.237.36.250:27960 (open the multiplayer game, hit the ~ button and type /connect 64.237.36.250:27960).

This is also a very old post, but to play rtcw now that they've deactivated the master server you should follow the instructions posted here:

Is it worth it? Are they any populated servers at all?

A couple, I played on a 20+ person server the other day, mid day, mid week, so I dunno...I didn't see any 64 player servers fully occupied, but if we get some more peeps, you never know.
