How I fixed my 1% Low FPS drops and stutters in CS2, Fortnite & PUBG (Resolution Bottleneck Fix) (R5 5600 XT, RTX 5070)

I’m running a mid-range CPU (Ryzen 5 5600XT) and really good GPU (RTX 5070) which easily handles 2K AAA gaming, but was severely struggling with FPS drops in competitive titles. Playing CS2 on 4:3 (1280x960) and 1080p gave me around 600+ peak FPS, but with horrible drops down to 150–200 FPS during heavy fights and executes.
We've all been used to those classic "low res / low settings" since the CS:GO days. But times have changed — modern GPUs are ridiculously fast, and dropping your resolution too low just chokes the processor with a severe CPU bottleneck.
Of course, a CPU bottleneck can be fixed by just upgrading to a top-tier processor. But the truth is, when playing on low 4:3 resolutions, even the best CPUs on the market struggle to deliver a completely flat frame-time graph without micro-stutters — it's simply a matter of platform architecture and throughput limits.
I tested my FPS by switching my resolution in Fortnite to 1440p (2K). Surprisingly, my frame times instantly smoothed out and average FPS actually went UP by \~200 FPS compared to 1080p because it shifted the workload directly onto the GPU (same in PUBG).
I did the exact same thing in CS2 by switching from 1280x960 to 1920x1440 (4:3 stretched 2K):
* Average FPS went down slightly (by \~60 FPS).
* All random freezes and frame drops completely vanished.
* 1% Low FPS skyrocketed by almost +200 FPS.
If you don't want to switch platforms to AM5 right now due to current DDR5 prices, but want rock-solid frame times, this is essentially the only working solution for mid-tier rigs. Instead of lowering your resolution like we used to a few years ago, force your modern GPU to do the heavy lifting by going 2K.
