depends. I do it very often because it works pretty well but I tell my team before the round starts that I will lurk on palace.

no this is baiting. if the call is a b rush and you go palace you are baiting. even if you kill the a player youre having next to zero impact in the round.

if your team is playing a default with mid control tou can lurk a based on a timing to try to take a 1v1 on the a anchor while the window and con players are focused on fighting your team in mid.

This is a good question.

And honestly, both answers is right and wrong. Lurking done wrong is baiting and that is what makes and brakes it. So first of if your going palace to lurk, what is your objective? Its to backstab rotating placers in the back. Now Depending on where people are standing on mirage, this can be kind of tricky from palace, but can be done. So once your team executes onto B site you need to prepare to get into A to kill anyone rotating. Do this to early and you end up in a 50/50 duel. Do it to late and they have already rotated and that can be very bad. It also depends on what kind of buy you have. If your on an force or an ECO, i would never consider lurking like that. So it's not so straight forward to answer

depends on the call. If the call is a b rush or b contact, most of the time you want to go all 5, or 1 (max 2) players mid to go short.

if the call is lets go B, one guy lurking elsewhere is not always a problem, but you need to know how to play in that situation. If you can kill 1 or 2 rotating CTs your team can rotate freely and you might win the round for your team. But being elsewere on the map can also mean your team is essentially playing a 4v5.

I get what people say about lurking but this is not it. You are too far away for getting there to help and you might not be able to catch any rotations if the CTs are on CT or jungle. You might be able to catch ppl rotating short but at that distance it’s a possible whiff - and even if you kill, you are still too far away to help with stopping the retake.

Better lurk mid or under. If you catch someone there, you’ll get in their head and slow down the short rotate heavily, or even stop it entirely - which is a great info for your team, because they can expect everyone from kitchen or maybe apps if someone slipped away in under.

100% baiting. When you rush a site you need numbers. Best case you get a kill on the a player. You are still not making a difference for your team on b. And worst case, by the time you go out palace, the CTs are gone.

It makes more sense to lurk on executes, where you can get in a good position to flank before.

If you still want to lurk you should go mid and support from short.

If your team takes B, there's less value killing someone on A compared to you being on B site with your team. The only way for you to add value is if you kill multiple players AND your team is able to hold site. In all other cases, you've just cost your team a round.

It's generally better to bait due to the distance being the exact opposite of B site. But there's kind of a nuance about it.

You can try and fake A bait with various grenades, certain footstep noises, actually peeking a moment to further sell the fake A bait.

You can just be a lone bait peeker.

You can just bait with noise and never peek.

You can also try and play a fake 'sneaky A' if your team can hide the bomb in the back of their group with their rush. What I mean is, they rush B, their last guy has the bomb so he isn't seen immediately. You seeing your teams position on the minimap as about to make their rush evident(e.g. they be making noise in apartments), so you throw out the sneaky A smoke from palace like you're doing a sneaky trick plant on A. You don't fully commit to it, but it can cause hesitation on the rotate.

What you are partially doing is instilling some hesitation on the rotation.

The fact you dont understand why what youre doing is baiting, proves that youre not a good player, so I highly doubt it.
