Thoughts on MP7 on CT and T Side after EWC 2026?

ROONY · 7 Sep 2026 at 06:55 · permalink

Ever since the MP9 nerfs in Season 3 and MP7/MP5 buffs in Season 4, the MP7 has definitely started to be used by pros since Season 4 came out. I still see MP7 buys even now in EWC months after the MP7 buffs, I believe mostly on the T-Side.

How do you feel about the MP7? How does it compare to Mac-10 and MP9 as well as Famas? Has it been useful/popular in your matches?

mp7 is sneaky good on t side, the accuracy while moving feels way better than the mac10 for the mid range fights. i still grab the mac10 if im just gonna barrel stuff a site but for those defaults where you're jiggling angles the mp7 puts in work. on ct i just stick with mp9, the fire rate saves my ass too often to switch

If my cash ends with 50, I will choose mp9, if my cash ends with 00, i will choose mp7.

Just dont like to see odd numbers

I can see that. I'll buy a MP9 for a util if I can't afford any with MP7, or if I'm rushing lower on Dust2.

MP7 has always been a favourite of mine since the CSGO Days.

Also, this might be a hot take, but I honestly wish they brought back the ability to buy all the weapons instead of the current system; it took away some diversity of gunplay and heavily affected my own eco rounds because I honestly prefer buying all the guns depending on my money and the in game situation
(this heavily applies mainly to the mid tier guns like shotguns and SMGs)

I've been liking it better than famas- good value and better spray/feel honestly.

Bigger issue for me too is skins. You can't equip them without having them in your loadout.

Why not just have 2 menus? Loadout is your Quick-Buy, then a Full Menu where you can equip a skin for every gun and bring up a larger menu to buy in-game.

this loadout system literally adds nothing to the game. I honestly think even the m4/m4a1s choice is such a lazy bullshit. People rationalize it by saying it is a tactical decision and whatnot but its just pure copium. Of all the things that affects the outcome of a game do we want someones loadout choice to be a factor in all this? More than the added variety and complexity that would come from an open shop policy where you can buy any weapon that round? laughable

I think it creates a bigger issue. It feels really unfair when the enemy team has access to weapons that we don't. It no longer feels like an equal playing field I guess? Like uh, what if they have the Autos equipped? I know it's not the biggest deal, but the principle bothers me I guess. It's annoying.

The loadout system serves no purpose and just causes more issues. Mid tier is far too limited for 3 classes of weapons.

For $1400 with a $600 kill reward, plus better spray/recoil and can still 2-shot helmet at decent long ranges, while fully moving...

I definitely haven't bought a Famas in forever.

The loadout system would be good if Valve put the effort into balancing the weapons or finally adding more like they said they would 3 years ago.

But why do that when you can be lazy and maintain the same dreary meta for 25 years.

Mp7 has slightly better pure shooting performance (lower time to kill, smaller recoil pattern) but slower movement speed and costs more.

The movement speed is probably what keeps it from being popular. For comparison: mp9 = 240, mp7 = 220, m4 = 225. So it's actually slower than m4 so you lost out on those unexpectedly fast smg peeks that catches many off-guard.

In the end I think it's fairly balanced and up to individual choice because there's a few players that use it like tn1r, yekindar, elige.

I think the slower movement speed is fair due to the longer-range capabilities of it, it doesn't feel broken unfair like the MP9 was in it's golden years. It's a much more fair weapon to fight against. But ya, I can see people being thrown off by it.

I usually use the MP7 as a cheaper Famas substitute so I don't mind the slower movement since I'm using it a bit more like a rifle than yk, a MP9.
