Microsoft is at the forefront of AI and they are putting it into all computers now. So, it won’t be a big surprise if the next Xbox consoles utilizes some form of AI into its system, and also games developed by MS.

I wonder what advantages it will bring to gaming.

Fully voiced Npcs that react instinctively instead of having preprogrammed reactions?

Greater diversity of locations?

Greater world interactivity?

Or something more sinister than that?

MS said their next Xbox will be the biggest leap of a generation, and although they pretty much says that every new gen, I think AI will have a lot to do with it.

For COD players, they will just use it to help think of creative insults they send in messages.

I’d be okay with more clever insults rather than the usual “your mother…” ones. Haha

It will just spy on you more and give you more ads.

Unfortunately, Microsoft is forcing it. Allegedly they are working on a chip that is dedicated to AI calculations.

Hopefully the bubble will burst before we get that far.

I would guess it would mostly be for upscaling/frame generation.

The current one does.

AI can be a lot of things. For instance, better upscaling and frame generation like Nvidia’s DLSS.

On the fully voiced part…I hope that doesn’t mean taking away jobs & opportunities for the voice acting industry.

It’s not much, but I talked to a few gamers that abandoned The Finals for this disgusting practice.

To get more money. That's the only reason any of these companies do anything.

I don't think AI, in the examples you've listed, is going to do as much for gaming as people might think.

The Xbox is a closed box gaming system. Whatever elements of AI they wish to introduce will always be curtailed and restricted to serve and work within the limitations Microsoft will build it around.

So I don't think Microsoft will be adding AI to actual consoles, rather than allow developers to use some, heavily restricted and safeguarded, elements of AI, in some areas in some games that may benefit from it.

I think that's far more likely to happen than an AI revolution which will make Xboxes appear vastly more impressive than their competitors.

I don’t deny the usefulness in things like AI upscaling but that’s not what this thread is asking or what Microsoft is intending on.

They want AI to be used in creative positions to speed up/make cheaper production. The idea of taking to an NPC with “limitless dynamic responses” as exampled in this thread is one of the least appealing or interesting things I could imagine but that’s all AI chuds think about.
