Turns out the widely reported 90% drop in Sony’s PlayStation disc production was based on a misunderstanding. Sony DADC has clarified that the Thalgau facility is expected to see an overall 10% decline in product volume in 2028, not a 90% drop in production. That doesn’t change Sony’s plan to stop producing discs for new PlayStation games from January 2028, though.

It wasn't claimed they were. This blogger is refuting something nobody said

Not really related, but how do the people who say "Sony have already turned all the disc factories into something else" square that statement with the fact that Sony are still producing discs for the next couple of years?

it's also conviniently vague saying production will drop by 10% by 2028. which is the year no new games will get physical but older catalog releases will continue to be produced.

It was the main factory they made the disks for the ps5 for that’s being repurposed, it’s not their only factory or all of the factory from what I understand
