Everyone says they inherit but what did the original person do to get the money.

Depend on the country? Sometimes royalty, literal nobles and barons from 1000 years. Sometimes from trade and companies, like Dutch people that are descendants of people that ran the Dutch east India company. Of course there’s way less “old money” in countries that’s been through a communist revolution or some kind of “reset”

That depends on the person and the family, could be lots of things. Old old money is usually landownership/nobility.

Current “old” money is usually industry, rail/steel/oil/etc.

According to most millennials, generational wealth was created by working for 2-3 hours a week serving biscuits.

So, how do people get loads of money now? Making lots of people work for you to create or build things, extract resources and sell stuff.

Well, old money is like that too, plus plunder, theft, slave labour and other things they could get away with back then.
