Nothing ruins an RPG for me more than level scaling.

The blood of dawnwalker is yet another game that I was excited for and won’t be getting because it has it. I know some people like it. I have nothing against you if you do. We are all different after all. Personally it ruins that feeling of growth that I love in games though. And no, it’s not that I’m scared of a challenge. I love playing souls games which are known for their challenge, and they don’t have level scaling.

I really wish more games would do what Witcher 3 and AC Valhalla did. Both started without level scaling but they both implemented an option later on. You can choose to have it or not. Literally everyone can be happy, whether you like it or feel the same way I do about it. I really hope developers will start seeing it this way and adding the option to their games.

If you think that’s what this is about, you lack comprehension

I hate it too. I want to accidentally go to a late game area early, get wrecked, and look forward to getting strong enough to survive it. Similarly I want to go back to an early area and wreck everyone. It's boring as shit going to an early game goblin area at high level and have it scaled up in difficulty. It's both not fun and ruins immersion.

I get the feeling of growth from all of the new abilities/skills/spells and equipment I get that allow me to actually do more stuff during combat and whatnot.

I would agree.

It's why I love souls games, each area is a level and you can one shot them later on or go at it slowly now. NG+ scales them a little, but only by 10% or something per area.

NG+ on DL2, on the other hand, had the early level scaled to the end game difficulty, not exactly the most fun.

What do you mean by get good? For RPG mandatory level scaling is just bad game design. OP is fully right.

Core element of RPG genre is character development which is just bland and tasteless when everythings scales up with you and you can't feel any actual progress.

I do like level scaling as it keeps the game combat fun and adaptive but I completely agree that it should be optional. More choice is always a good option.

I don't mind it as an option for harder difficulties, not a fan of it as a constant though.

Show me someone complaining about level scaling and I'll show you someone that is shit at that game.

An enemy being the same level as you does not account for skills, gear, builds, synergies, you know, the stuff that every single rpg has.

I completely agree. Feeling stronger after leveling up is an essential part of RPGs for me.
