I am writing this not just as a player, but as someone who has been genuinely heartbroken by the direction this series has taken, because I don’t think you realize what you actually created. You didn’t just make a game with BFV ,you crafted a masterpiece, and then you turned your back on it.

Every time I load into the game, I am struck by the sheer artistry of it. The soul in that game is tangible. It is in the way the light hits the water as you cross a river, the haunting, perfect score that sets the tone, and the absolute perfection of the sound design.

When a plane screams overhead, it isn’t just noise it’s terrifyingly real. When you hear the voices of the soldiers, the grit in their tone, you feel the weight of their struggle.

Everything in that game from the way the mud clings to a soldier's uniform to the tactile, heavy feel of the weaponry was a triumph of design. It wasn’t just another fps shooter. It was an immersive, grounded experience that let you breathe, think, and truly engage with the world. You gave us frontlines that meant something, a level of visual clarity that made every engagement feel earned, and an atmosphere that no other game has managed to touch since. How is that possible?

And then, I look at where we are now. The modern titles feel… naked. Hollow. Sterile. You’ve traded that soulful, gritty perfection for a chaotic, neon lit arena that feels utterly disconnected from the heart of the franchise. The clarity is gone, replaced by a visual noise that feels like a betrayal of the standard you set for yourselves.

I know how the industry works. I know the corporate gears are always turning, pushing for more, for faster, for larger. But I am begging you, remember what Battlefield V was. Don't look at it as a past project, please, please look at it as the blueprint for excellence. You reached a height there that I fear you’ve forgotten exists.

It is devastating to watch that vision drift into the shadows. Please, find your way back. Bring back the weight, the soul, and the sheer, uncompromising artistry that made us fall in love with this series. The game is still a masterclass in design, and I are still waiting for you to see it for the masterpiece that it truly is.

I know time moves on but this is what I truly feels about it.

Wasn't V and even I widly hated in the beginning?
Remember people mocking the tattoed women from the trailer and the gameplay beeing imbalanced and so...."one of the worst titles in the series"

It had a pretty rough launch and the that trailer was so bad they had to rebrand the game basically and scrub any traces of her existence. But i cant remember a battlefield game that didn't have a rough launch

V was fucking loathed for ages for various reasons. Historical inaccuracies, class rebalances, MMGs, fortifications, support call-ins, and then the abhorrent rebalancing patch not long before Pacific dropped.

V was hated on launch. It took them a while to fix it up iirc. Now though it is a great game. V is my go to even though servers in my region are rarely active (I just have to pick other servers with 140 ping, not great, but playable). I just love the WWII era regardless.

BF1 still has a full sever in my region every night. Often there is quite a queue for it. Also a good game but I prefer V.

It was but not for the core gameplay. BF1's immersion was immense and many of the skins displayed in V felt fairly off. When people complained DICE pretty much said, "don't like it? Don't buy it." Follow that up with tons of unpopular balancing updates that many disagreed with. All of this culminated in a pretty bad rep for the game. I think context is important here because the game wasn't disliked over its core gameplay, that aspect was widely praised, but rather for other aspects. After the horrendous December 2019 TTK update was reverted due to mass backlash, DICE sorta just laid back and eventually cut support for the game in favor of 2042 which was poised to release on next-gen consoles. Much like with BF4, I think EA wanted to bank on the new systems and so BFV was kinda left to die. Despite that, it didn't and went on to become the most played BF until 6 released. Occasionally duking it out with BF1 (for good reason, that game was stellar) but generally holding a very healthy player count.

the PR for V was some of the worst in the series. the whole “don’t buy the game” comment, the lady with the prosthetic arm in the trailer, etc. the game’s probably the biggest example of what not to do when advertising a game.

Yea... its a phenomenal game. I like some of the new animations and detail with BF6 that keep me coming playing it (I love hardcore and playing slow lol) but it feels so incredibly watered down compared to V.
