Wardogs feels like Battlefield is back in a way Battlefield itself hasn’t for years. What made Battlefield 2 and Bad Company 2 so good wasn’t just the big maps and vehicles, it was that every match felt like a little adventure with your squad. You’d travel together, get sidetracked, end up in some stupid situation, regroup and keep going. Reviving was crucial because your teammate couldn't just spawn right away and get straight back into the action, and because they were your partner on the journey that you spent the last 10 minutes journeying with, and they need help getting back up!
Lately, Battlefield has pushed more toward constant action, individually focused gunplay and smaller, denser maps, and a lot of that sense of journey has disappeared with it. No wonder we complain about nobody reviving anymore when the game increasingly caters to players who just want to get back into the next gunfight.
Wardogs actually seems to understand that moving across the map, hauling supplies, using vehicles, fortifying some random position or just trying to get your squad from A to B is part of the fun. It’s not just downtime before the next kill. That messy, unpredictable teamwork is what I’ve missed about Battlefield for so long and I’m so glad to have it back 🥰
It's only on PC for now and it's in beta for another couple days atm. Going early access on September 10.
