Got 3000 hours in BC2, still play in once a week with the help of Project Rome. There is no BF or game like BC2 - beautiful clear graphics, immersive physics and fun ragdoll, actual meaningful destruction that makes each match unique, ground deformation that rarely but still can be used for cover, characters' design and proper voice lines (RU ones are funky and funny, but still memorable and spoken in a clear Russian), THE ATSMOSPHERE, SOUND and its 3D positioning, clear and crisp game design and gameplay. Brilliant RUSH maps that allow for experimentation - out of bounds shortcuts, secret routes like flanking Port Valdez's 3rd set of MCOMs in a cold water (you can freeze to death if you don't use ladders!). Game has many nuances, low floor and high skill ceiling - for example try to be as good as aggressive recon Sgt. Enigma with SV98 and Grach. Try to master AT4 vs air.
Balance between classes and between vehicles is great, all weapons are useful and different. Weakest ones like Aug and Raffica can be used for challenge. So so so many things done RIGHT.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a Masterpiece.
Battlefield 6 is so shallow and boring while also being made for Tick Tack \[sic\] ADHD generation... Got 100 hours in bf6 and sick to my stomach from it.
It's a heartbreak that the next Battlefields can't match BC2 in any of these regards.

I just wish there was one populated Non hardcore Rush server.

Oh and Bad Company 3, but we all know that would be a shit show like Portal.

Why none hardcore? Hardcore was always better, sniping on not hardcore is horrible.

Project Rome is great to play, sadly I'm on steam deck so my kd is awful but it's still a blast.

I agree with this post - BFBC2 for me was the absolute peak of battlefield, even more than BF1. Those voice lines still live rent free in my head. "Sniper Perikoreeeee!" or "Here you go, fix yourself up with that shit" are classics. Maps like Port Valdez on Rush mode were so much damn fun, I would play round after round after round. I could see the enemy clearly unlike some of the later titles. The destruction was insane for its time; using the 40mm underbarrel nades to open up those houses was incredible, being inside a house with your teammates and getting bombarded by a tank while running about looking for cover with the high pitched "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" in your ear was so immersive. There was that perfect balance of action and positioning/planning unlike the constant meatgrinder that is BF6, maybe it was the map design or the total amount of players at 32 per match, but it just worked. Love this game with all my heart man. I still remember the day I got to max level (general of the army or whatever), and I said in the chat "omg, I finally got to max level!" and someone just answered "haha noob".. and I was like.. I'm home. 🥲❤️

Because none hardcore requires more skill in terms of aim and positioning. That being sad, playing on hardcore right now gives me fresh vibes since 99% of my playtime are on softcore servers.

I totally agree with you. I was sad that my favorite game, which I started playing on Xbox and then picked up again on PC, no longer had servers.

I play occasionally on weekends and I recently discovered Project Rome. I was waiting to see if the players would stick around... well, I'm off to install it. See you on the battlefield, gentlemen!

Haha, love to hear all of that. Are you playing BC2 these days? When I do, I feel ALIVE and HAPPY like in old times!

Just put Rome's .dll into the games' folder and use credentials from your account on their site to log in. You can transfer your soldier stats. Trust me, after playing BC2 you will feel alive and happy, just like old times. Perfect stress relief for me.

When the devs say that they don't know why people liked BC2 so much or what made it special, deep down I knew BC3 would be far off, or just butchered and missing the spirit. Not to mention the people who made BC1 and 2 are surely not around anymore. BC2 was lightning in a bottle. A remaster and open servers would be our best bet for a slice of the glory days again

Bad Company 2 was the one that truly made me forget about COD, it atmosphere was awesome, fights had good chokepoints and vehicles were instrumental. Heck even in 2042 the BFBC2 and BF3 maps were better than what we had. I wonder if I can still play it in portal now.

Every now and then through project Rome. Unfortunately, there are a lot of Arica Harbor bot lobbies and not quite the variety we used to have in the past. Nevertheless, anyone who's playing that game at this point is on my team, opponent or not, as far as I'm concerned. 🤜🏻🤛🏻 Totally get that you feel that way, you probably also have a lot of positive memories associated not only with the game itself but of that time, perhaps when life was a little less complicated. Glad you're still enjoying it bud. 😌
