2042 was the first Battlefield game without a campaign. How can you say thats more "in-line" with Battlefield? Lol that statement is just proveably and quantifiably wrong. Thats like justifying Black Ops 4 not having a campaign by saing its more in line with CoDs identity. Its just wrong.
Back in the early days of Battlefield, like BF1942 or Battlefield Bad Company and Bad Company 2, not everybody had access to internet or online play like they do now, and they were introduced to the franchise by playing the campaigns. The single player campaign immerses you into the world and serves as an onboarding experience into the multiplayer, and BF1 did a fucking amazing job at that.
