LVT anti air setup is absolutely useless

I have that upgrade path on the LVT with the 50cal anti air guns. They are so useless. They seem to have tiny range, do minimal damage. I have never been bothered to respec it. I think i have never shot down a plane with it. I am awesome with flieger and the anti air emplacements. But man that tank is useless at taking down planes. The anti air is better for taking out infantry.

Overall pretty useless which is annoying because the LVT is on all those pacific maps with planes galore.

The range isn't great, but the accuracy is consistent, it just takes a bit of practice, and it's absolutely gnarly against infantry and light vehicles.

Really it shines on the Wake island map, where you can float along and suppress troops, and plonk at planes from places they're not expecting anything to be.

I will use it more om wake island, i agree i have had a few good infantry destruction moments with it.

I suck so much at hiting planes though. I lead to where the plane is flying and it rarely hits.

The lead for the 50 cals is less than the fixed 40mm, and the LAV does tend to move some as your shooting but once you learn the range and aim point... you're gonna start hurting planes consistently. Hard to down them, but it is doable.

I run the MG greyhound and I genuinely shred planes on panzerstorm. Even bombers. That thing does so much dps to planes if you get the tracking down.

I’ve actually been shot down by that stupid thing……
Wasn’t even paying attention and dogfighting another plane and that LVT with the AA got me

"I am awesome with flieger and the anti air emplacements"

Yeah because they have a proxy fuse. You just suck

People were absolutely grinding planes back in the BF4 days with the AA tanks. They didn't have a proxy fuse. You actually needed to score a direct hit.

Youre using it wrong. Only use it mid-late match. It can be a game-saver if struggling on the second/third objective playing breakthrough on Iwo. if planes get comfy and get too close, you can melt them.

Otherwise, it shreds infantry from long range and if you have decent AT players, the ap rounds can pester, panic, and destroy enemy armor.

It might be now but when the AA gun spec was released it was absolutely BUSTED! Infantry took like two rounds and you could switch to AP ammo to rip vehicles apart. Never as reliable against aircraft and they have long been nerfed but I totally had a flashback reading this.

Planes are resilient against big dam but low DPS thanks to their absolutely retarded emergency heal, but as any bomber pilot knows, constant MG fire will just constantly sap your health. I use the Greyhound one sometimes and you're right, it's hard af to keep a good bead on planes

Sneaking up behind a Tiger and just shredding the engine with 2,000+ RPM of armor-piercing .50 cal is a vibe.

They do a shit ton of damage up close to planes, you have to be sneaky with it

Usually if a fighter tries to low-fly over the top of me I can deal around 80 damage to it or even kill it. Bombers don’t do that but I usually catch them banking sideways after bombing someone else and do about the same. Trying to defend a pilot teammate from a dog fighter is hard af if I’m not close because of how unpredictable the flight patterns can be

Its all about positioning for aircraft. I try to get close to an objective that recieves constant strafing runs like f or d on iwo. Like you said, the target cant be too far away. Also shreds infantry, and the ap ammo works on low health tanks. This is a very opportunist load out

The accuracy is great as long as your target isn't dumping rockets on you from afar, like good pilots tend to do, then you're dead.
