hello guys, im just here to tell you about something that has happened to me in my DOTM playthrough, just in case: I decided to play the game in nightmare, and of course i went to the nightmare portal... or thats what i thought. (i swear to jesus and my dog that i did)

mid game, in map 5 i realised that the enemy layout was totally different that the ones i saw in youtube playthroughts, i was suspicious because the game was too easy, i didnt realize what happened initially because the game capped my health at 50 at the beginning, so i had to be in nightmare difficulty, right?

i decided to use the console, writted the command "skill" to check in what setting i am and imagine my surprise when i saw "skill 0 (1)"

That means the game was IN EASY ????????????????????????????????????????????????

now i changed it manually to nightmare by putting "skill 3" i just hope now to unlock the nightmare steam achievement at the end, because that is the main reason i want to finish it in this difficulty. (i dont know that will happen, because i just changed the difficulty mid game in mission 5).

so yeah im just doing this post to warn other and to ask if the same thing happened to somebody else around here, thats about it see ya.

update: The skill doesnt change between levels, it comes back to 0 (easy) when i pass to the next level, im so mad right now....

update number 2: i tried to replicate the bug, and guess what: i repeated the same process 2 times, in the first occation i actually entered to nightmare difficulty, (skill 3). i checked using the skill command.

In my second try, after passing through the nightmare portal, i checked once again and it said "skill 0"..... yeah, somebody should tell ID guys about this....

I'd say it's impossible to get the achievement for nightmare when you change the diff mid run. Why would that work?

Just restart with nightmare diff. You're in map 5? That's not even far I'd say

Something similar happened to me too, but I didn't notice until I beat the game and the Nightmare achievement didn't pop. I definitely found and started the game via the Nightmare portal in the starting area. I ran the last stage a few times, thinking maybe it was an issue with Steam cloud or something. Checked the "skill" command and the game was on Hard lmao

easy mode works as intended, skill 0 (1). don't judge me guys, 162 monsters per level is enough of a challenge for me for now.
