Is there really no stream of Quakecon id founders' meeting?

I was really looking forward to seeing the id founders meet and how they would interact again, since they all left id in more or less bad ways:

* Tom Hall: Fired during development of Doom
* John Romero: Fired after the release of Quake (though he was planning to leave already). Didn't see a single cent from Quake sales after working on it for ~one and a half year
* Adrian Carmack: The four other co-owners of id at the time (John Carmack, Kevin Cloud, Tim Willits and Todd Hollenshead) tried to fire him by claiming he had contributed nothing to Doom 3, so that they could force him to sell his share cheaply to them before the rest could sell their shares at a much higher price to Activision (eventually to Zenimax)
* John Carmack: Had to sue Zenimax for refusing to pay him after he sold his share, after Zenimax sued Facebook due to John joining them

Oh and now we're on the topic of id alumni with a questionable reputation:

* Tim Willits: Allegedly a backstabbing opportunist
* Paul Steed: Sexist alpha male tough guy who allegedly gave his colleagues shit for only working 16 hours a day
* Marty Stratton: Allegedly fucked over Mick Gordon

It just seems so interesting to me that the most influential video game studio have had so many... "clashing" personalities. At least Hugo Martin genuinely seems like the nicest guy ever.

Let's drop the pretence with Marty. Mick's response came with receipts. They fucked him hard.

Yeah there's a lot of rumours (albeit very credible) when it comes to the older id scandals, but like you said, Mick brought receipts and was very detailed in his account of what went down.

i rate it's just a matter of time before we can add hugo to the questionable list, there's definitely something not right with that guy.

yes, really disappointing no streams about the founders' interview... only one photo from someone in the crowd. really sad.

i find the concept interesting just because everyone from iD is kind of a carny. I love the games but personally ive never understood the fascination with the people behind them.

If you haven't read Masters of Doom, I recommend it. If there's any possibility for your understanding it's in there.

"At least Hugo Martin genuinely seems like the nicest guy ever." Let's not forget that Hugo Martin treated the lost studio members as unnecessary baggage, which led to him losing respect among both the fired employees and those who remained. Oh, and let's not forget that Hugo Martin himself is a very weak game designer. The last three DOOM games are only good if you look at them from a normie's perspective. In fact, not only are Modern Doom's game design riddled with holes, but all three games are built using the same template, which makes it clear that he is not capable of inventing anything new.

"all three are built from the same template" classic id would never, ever do such a thing

Hi, do you have any info on Hugo's reputation after the layoffs? (i assume the "unnecessary garbage" treatment your talking about is the official statement about the studio numbers am i right?)

sure but like why would I? I get that it was a little different for people who grew up playing these games in the 90s, but I didn’t lol. I appreciate them as influential designers and engineers, I just don’t care about them beyond that.

Genuinely curious what do you mean by this?

He’s spewing some weird doom-elitist gatekeeper bullshit.

Doom 2016, eternal, and dark ages are incredible games from any perspective.
