Im thinking of writing an Alt His of the Machine Games Wolfenstein Timeline, but it being one where the progression of US technology remains roughly the same as reality. So 1944 the US makes its major strides in the development of jets, radars, small electronics, and radars, 1945 the US creates the Atomic Bomb, has the largest navy on Earth, ect ect.

But basically it results in a Cold War. Wanted to see what suggestions fans might have for a Wolfenstein where the World War of Wolfenstein came to a stalemate following the Atomic Bomb and the US getting access to the secret tech cache.

I think the interesting thing is what would China’s fate be?

In machine games, I believe the Chinese United Front was one of the last powers to fall to the Nazi’s as they had pushed Japan out of mainland Asia or at least were doing so.

So in this case, if the U.S. beats Japan, the Nazis possibly don’t invade, and the KMT likely comes to power fully and crushes the communist. With China fully unified, I think America and China would work together to keep Asia out of Axis’s hands, liberating former colonies from the now axis conquered Europeans in Asia and securing them.

I like the idea of keeping the tech progression grounded instead of going full sci-fi. A Cold War where both sides are exhausted but still sitting on insane Da'at Yichud technology sounds like it could create a really interesting arms race without immediately breaking the setting.

I feel like it would be a bit like our OTL USSR at this point, look at the young blood OST, much much more progressive and honestly, I think a lot of OTL music like German new wave would exist

So I feel a breakdown of the authoritian system and the eventual reform of Germany into a liberal state does happen, tho maybe with a bit more bloodshed

What would be interesting is how Europe looks like in the 2000s, shit it may just become OTL trhcnology wise given that the young blood 80s is very clearly nearly the same as our 80s

To be honest, the alt history doesn’t start to happen until D-Day. Which is weird to me, because June 6th 1944 saw Rome liberated, the Germans battered on every front and millions dead or captured so far. Also the Japanese get shot to pieces in June 1944 in the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot.

The build up to D-Day alone would have tested the Germans, because we took every tactical and strategic bomber in England and plastered France. You’re telling me that the wunderwaffe wouldn’t be used and you’d let the Allies have free rein until June 6th.

I’m just assuming in this timeline, RTCW must not been as successful as it was in “real life” because Deathsheads X Labs got plastered by BJ. Wolfenstein 09 must have been worse too in terms of affect on Germany.

I think some of it is just “close your eyes and plot armor the Germans a bit.”

I think this is a fun idea!

In my opinion, I imagine a scenario where the Allies are pushed out of Europe aside from the UK, but the Nazis are unable to cross the Atlantic. To be honest, the MachineGames Timeline is a bit odd, but here’s the best I can say.

D-Day in this timeline ended in a huge failure, but the Allies weren’t out yet. German tech being advanced led to the Allies being pushed back on multiple fronts to the point where they lose their presence on continental Europe. However, if the Allies, especially America, manage to develop advanced tech, they could even the odds.

Basically the Allies can’t move into Europe, but America has reverse engineered enough Da’at Yichud technology to turn the Western Hemisphere into an impenetrable fortress. This would prevent the Nazis from invading or flying a bomber to nuke New York. Neither side can attack invade each other as the cost is too great. What could happen is the U.S. gets the bomb and uses one on Germany, which leads to Germany pursuing a ceasefire as they are struggling.

With Germany out, the U.S. can build a massive Navy and focus solely on Japan. Germany is unable to help this time as they are too occupied consolidating in Europe and recovering from the atomic bomb. Once Japan is dealt with, the Cold War begins.
