Will WotC ever make a decent martial-focused book?

I prefer to play martials (and half casters) in campaigns. Having a "Season of Champions" that turned out to be about World of Warcraft felt like a rug pull NGL. Like I don't mind WoW and crossovers, but at this point it's almost like dangling a Big Mac box in front of a starving man only to reveal it's empty.

After a while of waiting for cool new player options and getting very little, I'm just kinda tuned out now. The excitement and hype has fizzled out, now I just have no expectations and little interest. Feelsbadman.

They might at some point release a martial centered book. I wouldn't count on it because apparently the sales for caster focused content is just better, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I'm fully not expecting the equivalent of Arcana Unleashed for martials. They SHOULD add more feats, features and masteries that give martials a power boost as they have been doing for casters. But that hasn't been the patterns.

No, the power disparity is intentional for reasons unclear (mostly 4e backlash) and subclasses and feats dont have power budget to do many fundamental changes

I wouldn't hold your breath.

Martials (with the exception of 4e and Tome of Battle) have been ritually underbaked and underpowered. It's a sacred cow from the very first editions of the game.

You are better off trying a new system.

Homebrew and 3PP is the way. Have you seen Book of Blades?

No. I've been saying that ever since the hype for Season of Champions started, and I'll keep saying that till the day that... Till forever, it seems.

The closest to "martial oriented content" we got is the evolving magic items in Arcana Unleashed, and even that is just "here's how your Fighter can get a +1 sword that can cast Fireball once a Long Rest."

WotC are of the opinion that martial classes are the "low difficulty" classes, so their options and customization have to be kept at a minimum, with Battle Master being an exception.

Just take LaserLlama's class homebrews, they solve the whole problem single-handedly.

They did. In 4e. But the approach to martials in 5e makes it very difficult to create a compelling martial character.

I hope so. But with the slate of next year’s releases being already set, it wouldn’t be until 2028 at the earliest even if they were to decide to do that. That amount of time is going to feel real tough.

Eventual keep asking for it. When filling our surveys and other places

WOW should have plenty of martial focused things. It will also probably be huge for the ranger. ( hunter is one if the most popular classes in WOW) but of course WOW is sword and socerery so won't be all weapon users.

Also look at the line ups nothing really stands out for a martial focused book, but in dark sun magic does act weird though mostly ways to make it more powerful at a cost or using it with a cost.

Also I do plan to make my postive ranger post soon. But about its future and I did think of something... death saves could see the return of the spellless ranger... Mike mearls works for death saves. Mike mearls made a spell-less ranger. It's a possibility.

TLDR - just ask for more martial stuff in surveys and socials.

Not without a serious change in leadership, focus, and mindset among players. The "linear fighter quadratic wizard" and "fighters are for newbs" players are exceptionally loud, and WotC is exceptionally lazy. Even spin-off games continue to hold onto these sacred cows instead of making meaningful changes. Too many nerds who were picked on by jocks and can't get passed the Gygaxian Trauma.
