Hey everyone,
I have been dealing with a frustrating issue where Battlefield 6 causes my PC to completely hard reboot mid-game with zero warning — no BSOD, no error message, no crash dump. The system just instantly cuts power and restarts. This started happening in 2026 after a game update. The game ran perfectly without any issues from launch day up until then.
This is exclusively a BF6 issue. Every other game I play, including Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora at 4K max settings, runs without any problems whatsoever.

WHAT WINDOWS EVENT VIEWER SHOWS
Kernel-Power Event ID 41 with the following:
- BugcheckCode: 0
- PowerButtonTimestamp: 0
- LongPowerButtonPressDetected: false
- WHEABootErrorCount: 0
This confirms a pure hard power cut with zero software involvement. No minidump files are created because Windows never had a chance to write one.
---
EVERYTHING I HAVE TRIED
Hardware verification:
- PSU tested with OCCT Power stress test for 15 minutes both at stock and undervolted — passed with zero errors
- CPU and GPU temperatures monitored during gameplay and confirmed under 60 degrees Celsius — thermals are not the issue
- All hardware stress tests pass without any issues in other games
Windows and drivers:
- Full Windows 11 reinstall from scratch
- Clean GPU driver reinstall using DDU in Safe Mode, latest Nvidia driver installed fresh
- AMD Chipset drivers updated to latest version
- All Windows updates installed including KB5089549 May 2026 Patch Tuesday
- Windows SFC scan completed
Game specific:
- Full BF6 reinstall from scratch
- Game files verified via Steam
- Fresh BF6 settings profile created
- Tested at minimum graphics settings, 1080p, with everything off
- Disabled DLSS, Frame Generation, Nvidia Reflex and Ray Tracing
- Tested both DX11 (via -dx11 launch option) and DX12 (confirmed GstRender.Dx12Enabled set to 1 in PROFSAVE_profile)
- Screen Space AO and GI disabled
Windows settings:
- PCI Express Link State Power Management set to Off
- Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS) disabled
- Mandatory ASLR disabled for bf6event.exe via Windows Security Exploit Protection
- TdrDelay registry value set to 10
- Full ownership applied to BF6 game folder
- All overlays disabled including Steam, Discord, Xbox Game Bar and EA
- Kaspersky Antivirus disabled entirely during testing
- MSI Afterburner closed completely during testing
BIOS settings tested:
- EXPO disabled, RAM dropped to DDR5-4800 JEDEC default
- FCLK adjusted to match RAM speed
- Resizable BAR disabled
- Integrated Graphics enabled and set to Auto
- Secure Boot Mode changed from Custom to Standard

A NOTE ON THE BIOS
I am aware that a BIOS update has been suggested as a fix by some players. I want to mention that I am currently on BIOS version 1807 which has been rock solid and stable since I built this PC. The game worked perfectly on this BIOS version from launch day right up until this issue started, so it is hard to see how the BIOS would suddenly be the cause.
I am also hesitant to update because newer BIOS versions for the ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F have known reported issues with DDR5 EXPO stability, specifically with kits like the G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO, which is exactly what I am running. I would rather not risk breaking a stable, working system to fix a problem that started on the game side. That said, if anyone has specific experience updating this board to a newer BIOS version without issues on a similar RAM kit, I would be open to hearing about it.
---
RESULT
After a full Windows reinstall, fresh BF6 install, everything updated, all settings at minimum at 1080p — the issue still persists and my PC reboots consistently within approximately 12 minutes every time.
I have run out of ideas and am not sure what else to try at this point. If anyone has experienced something similar or found a fix I may have missed, I would really appreciate the help. And if the EA team happens to see this, I hope the detail here is useful — I am happy to provide a DxDiag or any additional logs if that would help with investigation.
Thanks in advance

Excellent troubleshooting, and sorry it has not been resolved yet. This sounds to me like there might be a physical connection / electrical issue after some time. Either due to heat induced stress or mechanical stress somewhere because the PC is just logging power events instead of volmgr (failed to log BSOD or couldn't due to other reasons likely power).
First try to load BIOS defaults, locate PBO and set that to disabled first, test for crashes, if it does crash try to adjust load-line calibration (to prevent vdroop induced shutdowns/crashes). Make sure you remove every single curve optimizer option from BIOS as that's undervolting that could trigger this (I get them random restarts with PBO mode lower than -10 mv on a 7950x3d when loading tracks in FM8).
If you have an option to check for 12v rail from the PSU, ensure it's not going down to 11.4v on GPU or rail in motherboard reading when you're playing, as this may be an indication of resistance due to a faulty PSU or a short somewhere, the fact it doesn't happen on other games and only in BF6 could just be a random sharp transient event triggering instability.
I hope this helps and hope you find out what it is.

Is your iGPU enabled in windows? Being enabled in BIOS alone isn't enough. I don't know why..

Since I updated to the newst Nvidia driver (GameReady for Horizon 6) I also have reboot crashes... It's driving me insane. BIOS update didn't help either. My best guess is, that the game isn't compatible with the lastest Nvidia driver. What a joke...

Any other anticheat enabled games do you play?
Having Epic Games EasyAntiCheat, Tencent AntiCheatExpert, XIGNCODE, nProtect installed along with Bitdefender did not crashed my PC but I don't play any Riot Games' games. It... might be the Vanguard..? That thing keeps active on boot, like PunkBuster in old days.

There is already an 80 page thread on this issue its a game issue not your hardware.
All that troubleshooting doesn't fix anything.
The only workaround right now is to make sure your IGPU is enabled.

You need to update your BIOS, end of story. You didn't do the one thing that was going to fix it. I have 9850x3d and gigabyte x870e auros master motherboard, 32gb ddr5 6200, with RAM running 1:1, XMP on. I was getting the same crashes as everyone else, nothing fixed it till updating the BIOS, none of the dumb ideas people were coming up with, USB sticks, enabling igpu etc. There was a windows update around the same time, as well as a new BIOS released. The latest BIOS for my board was released 4/20. Right around the time all of this started happening. If your board had a BIOS update around that time, 99% that fixes it.
~Edit~ Latest BIOS for your board was released 4/16. Version 3702

i have the same issue, but i get minidumps mentioning ea anticheat. cant troubleshoot those properly. stoped playing for month because of it. tried today but the issues persists.
i could initially play fine, got 190h overall but the last ones where with constant pc reboots. initially it was only one per day but after an Update it became every couple min as well. no other game causes a similar issue.
tried to enable run as admin on bf6 and ea anticheat, didnt seem to have helped. Verified game data, no change. updated the grafic driver just now and will try again. not sure im willing to spend more time on this.

If you don't update your BIOS to version 3003 or newer for that motherboard, your Secure Boot certificates will expire in June causing Windows 11 not being able to install all updates. BF6 might not run without updated Secure Boot certificates after June.

So I havent used my pc in a long long time. BF6 always ran without problems. But now my game/pc crashes. My screen is just black it doesn't even restart either. Kernel power issue. What I found out is that my symptoms lead towards bios. So I found out I'm running a bios version 3.5 from 2019 lmao. So probably like other people here, if you have this issue update your bios. And also yes for me too all other games run fine. BF6 is just kinda gay. But yea don't know yet if it will fix it, think it will. Will update if I remember.

When I first had this issue about a month ago, updating my BIOS fixed the crashing. Then another update happened and now I can't even get into the menu after launching the game without it crashing/hard reset of PC. I have validated, uninstalled, re-installed, and have also used the flash drive in the USB port in the back of the PC for flashing BIOS and still no joy.
Also I have no iGPU to enable since my CPU is a Ryzen 3900x. Where can I get a battlepass refund lmao
