Been noticing this game will just make clips with no audio. Other games totally fine. Anyone else have issues with this?

Since launch day, also affects 2042 and V due to the EA app ingame overlay ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with the Steam overlay. Last time I tried disabling EA app overlay it also disabled the steam overlay completely.
Current workaround I'm using is restarting Steam before launching BF6, don't know if anyone found a better solution.

There's a few games that do this, all of which seem to have some kind of anti-cheat attached to them (Marvel Rivals was the first game I encountered this with).
Found out later that you can work around it by switching audiop recording to system rather than game, which is annoying. Fortunately, there is a way to keep it only recording game audio, just a little annoying. So before you launch the game, set audio recording to system and close the menu. Launch game, get to the main menu, tab out and go back into the Steam Recording menu and set it back to game audio. Haven't had problems with it picking up audio since. Just annoying to do every time to ensure I get audio capture.
Now with that said, I can't say if this works if you only actively record (manually starting recording sessions). I have it passively record (two hour limit) my sessions since I don't always find stuff worth keeping, so in the event something good happens, it at least got captured and I just have to remember to go and save it. But yeah, if you passively record, the above method works. Why it does this? I have no idea, I'm blaming anti-cheat because it's the only thing both Battlefield 6 and Marvel Rivals have in common. Just weird that Helldivers, Starship Troopers and Space Marine don't have this problem while also having anti-cheat software.

I found solution, set audio record to "all system audio" in record setting at steam.

This does work but it also means it records my Discord which I don't want. I have noticed that if you set it to All System Sounds and the back to "Game Only" it works for a bit. Not sure what causes it to stop working after doing that.

What version of Windows 11 are you on? I know when I first poked 24h2 I lost all audio for recording with game only, and could only ever get audio if set to system. Was one of the reasons I reverted back to 23h2 (had only used it for a few days so could still roll back). I'm guessing they sort of fixed it at some point, but could still have some other issues, this being one of them. Only other thing I can think of is a Steam update, but given how new this particular discussion is (and that I haven't encountered this issue when switching back to game audio), I don't entirely think it's Steam since there hasn't been a client update (that I've noticed) recently.

Sorry for the much delayed reply. I'm on whatever the latest is so 25H2 i think? I've found doing a dance of resetting the sound levels in windows and also swapping from All Sounds to Game Only works but i do have to check whether or not its working at the start of a session.

So I guess they kind of fixed it. I know 24h and 25h are basically the same (broken, but with extra features). But yeah, even on 23h the particular issue with Battlefield 6 is that for what ever reason, it's a roulette as to whether or not you will get game audio when Steam is set to record game audio when launching. But after several checks with swapping between the two options, I stopped checking as I always end up with audio when I start the game with system audio set for recording, then switching back to game audio recording when I hit the game's main menu.

Just bumping this to say: this is still an issue here in May. This is still the only game on steam I have this issue with. I find if I don't turn my audio recording from "game audio only" to "all system audio" and back again my clips will often have no sound. Can we get an offical comment on this?

It's due to anti-cheat as far as I've been able to tell. The only games I have this happen with is Battlefield 6, Marvel Rivals and, (after having BattleEye installed) Conan Exiles. I suspect it has something to do with how they operate as all three games effectively use their own proprietary anti-cheat vs the more common anti-chest such as Easy Anti-Cheat (was thinking it was to do with all three being kernel level anti-cheat software, but apparently EAC is also a kernel level one) as I don't have this issue with Space Marine 2 nor Starship Troopers Extermination, both of which use EAC.
Whether this requires Valve to do something on their end to work around this or for the developers of said anti-chest to create some kind of whitelist for Steam Recording, I couldn't say, though I do lean towards the developers given that the audio recording does still work, so long as the game is first launch with system audio selected, then switching to game audio after.

There is nobody that uses Steam to record stuff, just use OBS like a normal person.

Steams recorder hooks on to what ever launches first so the anti cheat start up means steam is hooking into the GUI of the anti cheat start up and locks its self to that for audio thinking that is the exe for the game.
This problem happens with any game that has a launcher that doesn't close after starting the game meaning it doesn't record the audio. Best solution is well system wide audio recording but that can be delayed audio cause its recording the whole PCs audio or try to get steam to target the games exe though it sometimes doesn't work cause bf6 hides its self from programs probably as a anit cheat measure....
Also people saying its the anti cheat its self blocking the audio its not... if the anti cheat was upset with you it wouldn't allow you to play the game.

Yeah it seems like its basically unresolved. Still happens to me from time to time. Switching to "all audio" and then back to "game only" fixed it but it doesn't stay that way.
