Koth, squad deathmatch, and a few other modes got removed with Season 4. Does anyone know why?

They probably removed these modes to concentrate players into fewer playlists and improve matchmaking. But KOTH never had a matchmaking problem—I could always find a match quickly. Meanwhile, they keep pushing RedSec, which many of us simply don’t want to play. KOTH was a popular and enjoyable mode.

This is probably the correct answer. Dice has done that in previous titles to achieve exact same goal. Playerbase seems to shrink week by week, so the only solution they see is to reduce thr amount of playlists and modes to reduce matchmaking time.

But who said KOTH wasn’t being played? I’ve been monitoring the player count, and it has actually been declining since this change. KOTH wasn’t even promoted on the main screen—we searched for it through Custom Search and still found matches easily. Meanwhile, they keep pushing RedSec, which hardly anyone seems interested in playing. People actively searched for KOTH because they genuinely enjoyed it.

Dice decided that and we can't do anything about it, because that wasn't up for players' to choose.

DICE made the decision, but players can still make their dissatisfaction heard. Staying silent guarantees nothing will change—community feedback has reversed bad decisions before. We paid for this content, so we have every right to ask for KOTH back.

Well, there always have been matches within 2 minutes at least in KOTH and Rush (on all maps, but they removed them except Tsuru)... even when the playercount was 30% lower than today.
When back then there was no reason to remove those modes, then there is definitely no reason now.
Except removing 50% of the main game content to push people into their free modes o.O
And yes, I switched to Breakthrough now, before I played mostly Gauntlet (matches are way too rigged by their EOMM-algorithm now) and Rush, Breakthrough was definitely not my favourite mode... but already have learned how to do 800-1200spm with a decent K/D so im ok with it.

Exactly. The matchmaking excuse is complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. KOTH and Rush found matches within two minutes even when the player count was 30 percent lower. DICE removed paid content to force people into modes they do not want, and now they are pretending it improves the game. It does not. It just drives more players away.

Same as with Metro in BF3... servers always have been full 24/7 and we had so much fun - because even the "losing team" had positive K/D and good overall scores.
Yeah it was grenade/revive spam mostly, still it was fun for many players to grind XP and stats that way. But EA/Dice hate it when players have fun, so they will never do a map like Metro again. No more frontlines, just COD-style Clusterph*ck maps like we have them now.

Not every mode needs to be perfectly balanced or competitive. Metro was chaotic, but people played it because it was fun. KOTH was the same. It had flaws, but matches were always available and players enjoyed it.
We saw this with Helldivers 2 too. The developers ignored their community until the backlash forced them to release an apology video. DICE should listen now instead of waiting until even more players leave.

Yeah exactly, during the day i could find matches across all game modes. It feels like EA is trying to shove the live service model down our throats, and removing modes so they can add them as limited time modes in the future.

Only god knows... wouldnt make sense to completely remove it since there are challenges tied to STDM and KOTH.. However with how this game is threading on since launch I wouldnt be surprised if its removed indefinitely and the challenges were forgotten lmao
