WARDOGS is exactly the blueprint EA needs if they want to do yearly Battlefield spin offs

If you haven't seen Bulkhead's Wardogs yet, it’s a massive wake up call for EA. It perfectly blends tactical mechanics with pure sandbox chaos: 100 players, an in match cash economy, base building, and heavy destruction.

If EA insists on yearly releases, they need to adopt this cycle:

Mainline Years: Give us the classic, pure Battlefield experience. Don't rush it.

Off-Years: Drop a spin-off built around Wardogs mechanics.

EA is a multi-billion dollar company; they have the engine and resources to do this flawlessly. Imagine a Frostbite-powered game where your squad pools earned cash to call in a tank or build a reinforced forward base in a 3-faction war.

It’s the perfect way to deliver something mechanically fresh and tactical without losing the all out war essence of Battlefield. Stop burning out devs on the main titles and start taking real gameplay risks in the off years

Best they can do is release the same mainline game every year and spend the rest of the year trying to fix it up, only to immediately drop it next year for the cycle to continue.

They make dropping a game right when they turned it around an art form haha.

Thats the point they can definitely figure something else or improve those mechanics, they are going to push the yearly release, so at least give us something slight different

Wardogs is good but their respawn system is total trash. There's a reason why it's very difficult to find YouTube videos with the respawning included.

Its two different ends of the genre if you ask me. Wardogs is a lighter end of Milsims, where as Battlefield always was at the edge of being an arcade FPS. Make it a Milsim and you'll lose the "only in battlefield moments" that you get.

Let games that fill the milsim slots do that, and let battlefield be the large scale arcade chaos FPS its always been.

Ya it just sounds kinda sweaty. Like you're at the mercy of people who can no life the game and have a bunch of money for everything. It might not be like that in practice, I've been away for work so couldn't do the free play or whatever they had but I'll watch some videos

Yeas but EA has the money to make a real good game based on those mechanics.

Wasn't sure myself but even when doing sandboxy shenanigans I'd earn back the money I'd spent on some equipment for a stupid idea. If you want to earn money in gunfights definitely have friends or make friends with the local/squad chat to help eachother and communicate.

To top it off I managed to get to zero money after a particulary mad idea that didn't work so went into the point scoring area with nothing and came out of the match positive. So it's not so punishing that if you go broke you are fucked.
