Which NBA series do you think needs more context?

When you watch the NBA for a while, you watch many, many playoff series (hopefully). While you can look back on series and read stats and form an opinion based on those stats, sometimes there’s moments that need more context and explanation.

I’ll start. I truly believe the Warriors would have come back from 3-1 down against the Raptors if Klay hadn’t gotten hurt. People forget, but the biggest talking point out of Game 5 (besides KD’s injury) was that Nick Nurse massively fucked up. Kawhi had gone on a tear to win the game for the Raptors and Nurse inexplicably called a TO, allowing Steph and Klay to hit massive threes to eventually win the game.

Even Game 6, while close was turning into a massive Klay game and before he hurt himself, he truly felt on fire and would win the game. Nowadays, people often remember it as a massive Toronto triumph, but it truly felt that the Warriors momentum at the time (even taking a step back at the time) was that they would come back and bring the series to game 7 after Nurse’s fuckup and the start of a Klay’s game 6 classic.

What series needs more context to explain to folks who never saw it?

You didn't even have to watch that series to know Toronto only won because of injuries

What a horrible take.

Toronto may have been the deepest team of the 2010s.

You are disrespecting them by stating this.

They would have lost 100/100 times with no injuries.

Take this to the warriors sub. Such disrespect to that raptors team. They were a great team.

No he's not, The Warriors were by far the best team in the league and way deeper than Toronto. They lost KD and Klay which believe it or not had a major impact in the results of the series

Not entirely just one series, but putting context on why De’Aaron Fox was as bad as he was is important. He was battling a foot injury the entire playoffs. This obviously doesn’t excuse the blatantly bad coaching and clutch time decisions but there is some reason that he fell off a cliff come playoff time.

warriors fans should be the last people to be ranting about how they got unlucky with injuries, every single championship they won required at least 1 opposing team to be heavily injured

2015 cavs didn’t have kyrie and KLove

2017 kawhi got put down by zaza when he was destroying them

2018 rockets had a 3-2 lead before cp3 strained his hamstring

2022 they faced a nuggets team with no mpj and no murray and then a grizz team with no ja
