A lot of people on Ryzen 7000/9000 series, including single-CCD chips like the 9800X3D, are seeing BF6 suddenly turn into a stuttering mess with huge frametime spikes, “latency variation” warnings, and “packet loss” icons. The common cause isn’t network or CPU/GPU performance at all: it’s Windows aggressively down-throttling the CPU when the game is in the foreground. HWinfo logs show effective clocks dropping as low as 900-1200 MHz the moment Battlefield gains focus, even though the system is on a Balanced power plan with proper chipset drivers. When the CPU is starved like this, the game's simulation thread starts missing tick deadlines, and the engine interprets the delayed updates as latency issues (hence the network icons) even on local servers with zero actual packet loss.
The fix is simply to stop Windows from throttling the CPU while the game is active. The easiest and most reliable way is to use Process Lasso and enable Performance Mode for the Battlefield executable. Performance Mode forces the game to run with unparked cores, stable turbo frequencies, and high scheduling priority, instantly eliminating the downclocking and restoring smooth frametimes. You should also exclude Battlefield from ProBalance (so it can’t be demoted) but you do not need to manually park or unpark cores. This affects single-CCD CPUs too because the issue isn’t CCD switching, it’s Windows misclassifying the game as a low-priority, “power-save eligible” process.
TLDR:
1. Download and install Process Lasso
2. Right click the executable in Process Lasso
3. Turn Performance Mode on
4. Exclude it from ProBalance
5. Restart the game (wasn't necessary in my case)
